After the Fundamental Norms of the Royal House of Romania were signed in 2007, former King Michael I, who abdicated in 1947 under communist pressure; reinstituted the Order of Carol I, the Order of the Crown, instituted three decorations and two medals. The Decorations of the Romanian Royal House are a reward for conspicuous and special merits of the recipients for the Romanian state and the Romanian Royal House.
